Smart solutions for the technological challenges surrounding the Einstein Telescope

COMET

The project COMET - CoMaking the Einstein Telescope - strengthens and accelerates the development of new technologies for the Einstein Telescope (ET). This underground observatory will become one of Europe’s most advanced research facilities for gravitational waves. By bringing together SMEs and knowledge institutions in the Dutch–German border region within international consortia, COMET stimulates the design, testing and scaling-up of smart solutions for the technological challenges surrounding this future observatory. In doing so, the programme not only creates solutions for the Einstein Telescope, but also generates new products and applications for other sectors such as high-tech, energy and healthcare.&nbsp;By offering workshops, matchmaking, technological roadmaps and tailored support, COMET links companies and knowledge institutions to today’s most promising innovation opportunities. As a result, SMEs can tap into new markets, speed up their innovation processes and strengthen their position in major European high-tech projects.&nbsp;COMET runs from 2025 to 2028 and is supported by the Interreg VI Germany–Netherlands programme. The project is aligned with ET Netherlands, an initiative of the National Growth Fund.
